THE CONCEPT
As part of our long-term partnership, we were again involved in the development of the iDrive Operating System 8.0 together with BMW Design.
THE CHALLENGE
The fully digital instrument cluster for a BMW was a chance to create something new. A new design language that manages to be both new and innovative but also reflects the heritage of the BMW systems.
THE LANGUAGE
A new characteristic design language for the digital instrument cluster inspired by the exterior is the hero of the all-new design language. Different modes account for a driver's individual taste and offer a multitude of choices.

Our partnership with BMW Design stretches over many years, which includes a range of brand experiences and interfaces that have been enriched in close collaboration.
Knowing the past, we help ensure consistency in the design language and experience. Bringing the brand's rich heritage into new dimensions, iDrive 8 features the first ever fully digitized BMW cluster with adapted gauge design. The famous analog instruments adopt and adapt to new features with a user centered design focus. The center display follows suit and presents information and entertainment via direct touch or radial controller.
